SAT 0530 Replimat

Colleen was supposed to meet Andrus at the replimat, he having gotten up early and left a note for her. She got dressed quickly and it was then that she noticed a small package, wrapped neatly, that had been knocked under the couch. She carefully opened it and found a pair of socks inside, a tag on them explaining that they were the latest technology, that they capture odor and let none escape into the air, and that they systematically cool one's feet or warm one's feet depending on the surrounding atmosphere. Underneath was a note from Andrus. THEY STINK, ALL RIGHT? She smirked, looked at her ripped and worn socks, and took them off. She slipped the 'latest technology' on her feet, put her new boots on, and went down to the Replimat for breakfast. She sat down next to Andrus, and said playfully, " 'They stink, okay?' 'They stink'? Really Andrus, I'm hurt."

"Oh, I'm so sure."

He grins at her, putting the PADD with her novel on it aside. "What're you having for breakfast? Steak and eggs? Seriously, Colleen, you're too skinny..." He playfully pokes her in the ribs.

Colleen giggled helplessly--she was ticklish, and she hated it. She hated it more that Andrus knew it. Made her an easy target. "I'm trying to bulk up--I've been eating fatty foods, lots of fat. Lots of it. Fat and...more fat." She couldn't keep a straight face, so her bluff fell apart. Anyone else, she could easily have made them believe anything she said, but for some reason she couldn't bluff around Andrus. She burst into a brief laughter, and then grew a little serious. "I can't seem to gain any weight. I never have, really, but that's self-explanitory. Once I get here, I should gain some weight, and I don't, even though I'm eating meat, potatoes, things like that." She shrugged. "Maybe it runs in my family to be skinny. I wouldn't know--every time I saw my parents they were malnourished or close to it, so what they would have looked like if...I don't know. Never mind. What did you want to talk about this morning, anyway? Got your note, obviously."

"Obviously," he smiles and takes a bite of his toast. "I might have a deal set up for you; the bartender may need a new supplier of Sirut Crystals. Seeing as I don't remember you ever having trouble in the Wincha system," he pauses to arch an eyebrow at her, not 100% sure she wasn't wanted there, "I thought it might be a good gig for you. It would be a regular run, too, which means I get to keep a better eye on you, and we get to visit more."

"I just wanted to check and make sure you're not wanted there before I let you talk to Enell."

"Hm," Colleen said, switching to business mode, "are we talking a stealing job, or an honest...semi-honest...transaction? Never had any trouble with the Wincha system, it's a good possibility I can accept this job."

Kel laughs loudly, nearly dropping his glass of juice, "Colleen? She needs Sirut Crystals. They grow like weeds out there, it's completely legit."

He looks at her, totally amused, "Sorry, it's just... anyone who wanted to steal those crystals... it would just be such a waste of time."

She chuckled and said, "Hey, I like the thrill. Why do you think I do white water rafting, climbing, skydiving, you know--that stuff, in my *spare time*? It's just that everything else is too boring! So maybe, just for the challenge, she'll give me a lower buying price to work with. So when am I meeting with her? Now-ish, or a little later?" She didn't like the idea of no more stealing--stealing was too much fun. She'd have to double up jobs. She'd get way more money, this way. A regular gig plus stealing and other odd jobs would bring her closer to Andrus, which was good in many respects. Her ship would be safer, she'd have more fun, she would be able to eat more often...all this ran through her head in seconds as she stared at Andrus, waiting for his reply.

The Major smiles at Colleen, hearing the thoughts racing through her mind. "Always thinking, aren't you?"

"We can go anytime this morning, before the bar opens. Though she doesn't seem to be in yet. Just promise me something: I don't mind what you do 'on the side', but if you do get this as a regular route, keep the other stuff out of Wincha? I really would like to see you more often, so keep this one on the straight and narrow, ok? Please?"

"Well, if you *insist*." Colleen said with a smile. "Seeing you would be nice as well. Especially," she added as she took a bite of her breakfast, "because I get regular meals."

"Yeah, you're not kidding," he takes stock of what she's eating, nodding in approval. "Plus, you find all these entertaining things for me to read," he teases, grabbing the PADD with the science fiction story on it and holding it out like a prized possession.

"It's not *so* bad once you really get into it."

Colleen gasped, "*That's* where it went! I never got to the part about..." She realized she was speaking a little too loudly and lowered her voice. "Give it back, Andrus, I wasn't done!" She couldn't believe *he* stold something from *her*. And that she hadn't even seen it sitting on the table. He obviously had taken it a while ago and had 'gotten into it'. She smirked and said, "Am I going to have to start raiding your office to make sure you're not taking my stuff?"

"Nothing else would fit me," he teases, "Besides, you're a fine one to talk about taking other peoples' possessions. And I'm nearly done. I'm on the last chapter, I'll give it back tonight..."

"Fine, be that way," she said playfully. "Nothing of *yours* would fit *me* either. Especially your big, fat boots." She knew it was childish and immature, but also that he would laugh. No one had probably made fun of his feet since he was a kid. She was actuallly hoping to spur an arm wrestling match between them, and loudly magnified that thought in her mind. Maybe he'd catch up on it and challenge her. They might even do it right here in public. She laughed mentally at the thought.

Andrus wraps his arm around her neck, gently of course, and ruffles her hair roughly, "Fat boots? They're not fat! I've just got wide feet. I'm about as fat as you are, Babygirl."

He lets go, grinning widely and thumping his elbow down on the table, "Alright, have at it. Come on, I wanna see you beat me."

Colleen shoved some of the food and plates out of the way, putting the drinks on the ground so they didn't get dumped over, and then put her elbow parallel to Andrus'. She gripped his hand in the traditional arm wrestling method and said, "Count of three. One...two...three--" She cut herself off at three and shoved his arm with all her might, quite confident that her face was turning bright red. He was strong, and he had beat her many times, but she also worked out and had beat him a few times. This time, he was a bit more difficult. But she couldn't do business with Enell if she was disappointed in herself, so a trick came to mind. She barely put weight on one of his pressure points, but did so periodically. In most humanoids, this pressure point responded to the periodical stimulation by relaxing the arm, and allowing it to move more easily. She put her best poker face on as she strained to push his arm down, and was sure he didn't know what she was doing as she pushed. Soon, his arm gave and his knuckles hit the table as she said, "One, two, three, I win!"

Andrus blinks, stunned, "Holy shit, Colleen! What have you-- ow! OW!!!"

He shakes out his hand, a nerve pain shooting through his wrist and into his palm. He glares as a nearby ensign giggles slighty, and the young man shuts up right away.

"Fuck, what the hell?" Andrus rubs his palm, trying to get the stabbing feeling to stop.

Colleen raised an eyebrow. "It wasn't supposed to...I mean most people don't...um...sorry?" God, she thought, do Betazoids react differently than Terrans to the nerve stimulation? "Are you okay?"

"I don't know," he tries making a fist and then opening his hand quickly, a trick that usually works well for cramp.

"What did you do to me? I mean, I know you've been working out, but DAMN."

It still hurts, but he can't help a grin. Being able to defend herself against anyone -- especially if that anyone was as big as Andrus himself -- was something he was always proud of Colleen for.

OOC: OMG bad grammar!

Colleen smiled sheepishly. "I met a Vulcan on a Cargo ship once...he taught me a few tricks for disabling an opponent. But Andrus, you weren't supposed to react that way...most people just relax. If you put pressure on this point here," she pointed to the part that she had periodically squeezed, "The arm's supposed to relax...not blow up or something." She looked at his contracting and expanding fist, and said with a smirk, "Is it gonna be okay?"

"I think so," he squeezes his hand into a fist again. The pain is gone, but it's been replaced by an uncomfortable tingle.

"It's all... weird. I'll be fine. If it doesn't get better I'll go see the Doc. Hanging out with Vulcans, huh? Tsk-tsk."

[info]ensignodonnell

July 21 2005, 12:15:47 UTC 6 years ago

Since the pain had been replaced so quickly by a tingle, Colleen was convinced it was going to be fine. So she took the liberty of saying, "Hey, if hanging out with Vulcans makes me win, I'll do it."
She got up and asked him, "Are you going to show me to Enell or do I have to get out that compass we used on the camping trip?"

"Hahaha, so funny."

Andrus resists the urge to stick his tongue out at Colleen, and knows she could probably see it in his eyes anyway. In private he wouldn't have stopped himself, but the head of station security carrying on like that in the Replimat... he knew he'd get a few questioning looks about the arm wrestling as it was.

He stands and offers Colleen his elbow, the opposite one from the tingling-numb hand.

"Shall we?"

"Let's go," Colleen said, and followed Andrus' lead.
